Hello and welcome to my blog: annedessens.com/blog where I share in detail my own personal growth journey, tips, advice, failures and insights on my journey to success. Of course my personal development journey encompasses all aspects of my life: finances, emotions, goals, time-management, relationships, spirituality, parenting, exercising and diet.
The reason why I've started this blog (besides loving to write, teach and coach) is to accompany you along your path to a better you. Sometimes, self-improvement is a lonely journey and it helps to read and hear from others as they make their way along this roller-coaster ride called life. Sharing is one of the deepest and important aspects of our human nature. Not having anyone to share your joy, your wealth, your ideas and even your sorrows with would make this world a very sad place indeed.
Also, as a woman I have found it difficult to balance pursuit of career and life goals with family and home. Most personal development people that I have read are men and while it's perfectly OK for men in our society to focus on their careers and leave the family at home, I have long struggled with raising successful and balanced children while having a burning desire to be in the workforce. In this blog I will explore the frustrations and complications of working long hours on personal growth and still raising happy children without the use of a live-in nanny or extended family to take on the burden of taking care of them.
Another aspect of personal growth that I'll be covering in this blog is how to co-create with your partner and children. We don't live in a vacuum. We live with other human beings who demand our attention. We when learn something new, we want to share that new information, that growth boost with our loved ones. But most of the time our new found experiences and enthusiasm for that, "I've found the key to success in life" gets met with a yawn and a stingy resistance to anything you have to say. How do you handle growing on your side and the very people you live with who aren't interested at all in changing themselves? Because the more you grow, the more you feel that you are growing away from them. And is that really the point of personal growth? To move away from the very people you love and sometimes even provide for? I don't think so. There is a harmony and balance that can be found as we each seek to live our own life experiences. It's not about controlling others, it's about accepting and sharing.
I have found many wonderful authors and bloggers along my way to a Successful Life and this blog and this website is about passing the information, the help, the support and guidance forward. It's also a wonderful place for exchange. I want to hear from you. I want your feedback.
To get to know me a little better if you arrived on this post first, you can read more about the purpose of this blog and website on my homepage. You can also learn more about me on my about me page.
As I build this site, I'll be updating you here in the blog. Here are some of the pages that I'll be adding as I progress with the website. I am setting up a resources page with reviews of the books, authors, audio-programs and schools of thoughts that I have found beneficial for my growth.
I am working to set up some podcasts as well but those are in the making because I'm not very tech savvy and I don't have the necessary software. But I find that listening to podcasts is a wonderful way to expand our knowledge while doing something else like exercising, driving or cleaning the house and ironing.
My recommended products page will give you full explanations and reviews about the select products that I use and recommend. Everything from my blogspace, my website tech-support, my journal and my meditations and audio-programs.
So welcome! May our journey together begin for improvement and happiness.
